# The three layers

> Own, borrow & lend, and finance — three products on one register, each built on the one before.

IX Finance is built in three layers. Each stands on the one before it: an asset must be on-chain before anyone can lend against it, and a market must value it before new assets can be financed.

```
## Layer 1 · Own
Tokenized shares of private-market assets that pay their revenue to holders. Every private market works differently, so each book gets its own product, all on the same foundation: a claim anyone can verify, with the holdings behind it kept private.
| Component | What it does | Status |
| - | - | - |
| **IX-CORE** | The first product: AI compute in the private infrastructure book, marked from live rates, revenue accruing to holders | Live on testnet |
| **Book products** | One product per book — private credit, real estate, private equity | Planned |
| **IX Cipher** | The sealed-claim standard: amounts and holders encrypted on a public chain, every balance provably backed | Specified |
| **IX Protocol** | Asset owners bring their own assets onto IX and issue them under their own brand | Planned |
## Layer 2 · Borrow & lend
A bank lends against a house only after valuing it, papering it and making the owner wait. An asset on IX has already been through all of that, so it can be used as collateral the moment it is needed.
* Holders lock asset tokens in a contract and borrow stablecoins against them.
* Lenders supply stablecoins and earn interest secured by real, revenue-producing assets.
* The asset is already valued on the register, so there is no valuation queue.
* Revenue from the collateral services the loan, month by month.
* Loan-to-value limits are set per book and enforced on-chain.
**Status:** planned.
## Layer 3 · Finance
Operators building real infrastructure need capital faster than banks provide it. Layer 3 lets capital fund that build-out directly.
* Lenders deposit stablecoins into financing pools.
* Pools fund operators building data centres, energy projects, farms and property.
* Each facility is secured by the asset being built and repaid from the revenue it earns.
* Once built, the asset can join Layer 1 — a route from financing to ownership.
**Status:** planned.
